Positive Relationships

Get Involved!

We are very proud of the positive relationships that we form with our parents and carers at West Green. There are lots of opportunities for parents to get involved including supporting children with their homework, going on trips and attending class assemblies and open evenings. You can learn more about how you can support your child here.

The School Day

Main School and Language Unit

School starts at 8.55am, teachers go out onto the playground at this time and are available to speak to you about your child or to make an appointment to speak to them at length.

Attendance
Over the last few years we have been working really hard with parents to improve the attendance and punctuality of children at West Green. We expect children to be in school on time every day. We totally understand that children become ill and if this is the case, please call the school office as early as possible to let us know.

Free School Meals

Free school meals are available to all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

They are also available for some older children according to their family income. It is important to register for entitlement to free school meals, even if your child has a packed lunch or is in a younger class – this is so we can receive additional funding (called the Pupil Premium) which we can use to help your child.

Children are entitled to Free School Meals if their parents, carers or guardians receive any of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income-based job seekers allowance
  • Income-related employment and support allowance
  • Guarantee pension credit
  • Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit, and an annual income lower than the limit set by the Government
  • Working Tax Credit Run On because you have ceased work or reduced your working hours to less than 16 per week

Cost

School Meals are £2.50 a day or £12.50 a week. Please ask at the office for more information about ways to pay.

OFSTED 2016

Comment from Ofsted

“The special educational needs coordinator also leads the speech and language resource provision. She ensures that pupils are fully supported to be integrated into the regular classrooms and to make the same good progress as their peers.”
