Year Six Maths for the Week – 18/05/20

Hello Year Six,

I hope you had a great weekend and managed to enjoy the sunshine a little – going to be a very warm week!

I really enjoyed talking to lots of you again last week – we do still seem to a have problem with people logging on to the website and reading posts like this.  Please look at the website as the week goes on, be logging into your MyMaths, Rockstar Times Tables and the new Purple Mash site.  In regards to MyMaths, I am going to release a new task each day that will be due next Monday, almost like having a daily maths lesson – please, this is an expectation – not optional.

BIG SHOUT OUT to Ian, Vanessa, Rayyan, Allana, Ivan, Victoria, Adrian, Shahd, Gagan and Lia for doing their MyMaths last week and a special mention to Adrian, Victoria and Allana for battling through the maths puzzle!!  Its the last day to submit your answer for the puzzle – I gave the clue that it may not be whole numbers….

This week’s task –

Task 1 – Area of a triangle – the formula is very similar to our usual work on area =  Length x width

The only different being that the area of a triangle = length x width divided by 2.

Task 2 – Parts of a circle.  This is designed to see if you remember how to label a circle.  You will be looking to identify the circumference, radius and diameter.

Task 3 – Measuring angles – you will need a protractor for this, hopefully you have one at home.  Remember the key is to line up the point on the baseline and then remember to use the correct scale.

Remember, if you have any problems, or want to send me work, you can email me at:   westgreen.violetclass@gmail.com

Good luck,

Mr Spours
