Happy Monday Guys,
Here is a new puzzle for you to solve! Please don’t submit your answer in a comment till Friday this week – so people have time to have a go themselves. If you want to send me or Patrick your answers please send to the class email addresses.

NEW CLUE – What do we do if WHOLE numbers do not work?
Have fun!
Mr Spours and Patrick.
Not quite Weda, you need to create a sum that will give you 13 going down. Keep trying though! I will give a clue on Friday if you’re still not there. If you would like to post a new answer before Friday, please email it to westgreen.violetclass@gmail.com. Good luck!
You need to think a little more outside the box Adrian, what can we do to numbers if they don’t work exactly??
I really like your effort though, remember, getting stuck is a good sign that we are pushing the brain. Think logically, keep going with the trial and error and like I said before – think a little outside the box.
I get all of them working, but the one where u have to equal to 13, is always wrong. I get either 14 or 12.
Don’t be so hard on yourself Adrian. If I have a 1 whole pizza, does that mean that only one person can eat it?
I sent you an email on Monday I was wondering if I got it right
What email did you send it to Victoria? I haven’t received anything – did you send it to westgreen.violetclass@gmail.com
Please try again to the email address below, or its Friday tomorrow so I am happy for you to send it on here. Thanks!
3 + 5 = 8
+ +
9 – 3 = 6
= =
12 8 That’s the closes I got I think
I hope you understand what the numbers are connected to, it comes out a bit weird. This is the closest that I’ve gotten.
It can’t work if they are whole numbers – its not possible. What I mean’t by the pizza analogy is we don’t always deal with whole numbers do we? Think about sharing, we may halve something – think about decimals, fractions and percentages. Can anything in that help you?
Ohhh, do you mean that we can use decimals? If so, I should’ve thought of that…
Yes!! No, the important thing is you got there in the end. Well done Adrian.
OMG! I got it 1st try when I put decimals on the sum ?? And I spent a week trying it out because I didnt know we could put decimals XD
I put dots in between the equal and pluses signs, that it would be more spaced out, but it didn’t work. I hope you under stand it.
I think the answer is this – 3.5 + 4.5 = 8
3.5 + 9.5 = 13
4.5 + 3.5 = 8
9.5 – 3.5 = 6
Thank you for your answer Victoria – you are correct!!
That is a bit of a mystery as to why I haven’t received your email. I will double check in the spam but haven’t seen anything I’m afraid. I haven’t approved your comment with your own email shown in it, you need to keep that private if you can. Thanks again for your answer – please try sending something else to the class email address and I will check for it.
