Hello Year 6’s! Who’s there?

Good morning to my wonderful year 6’s!  Mr Spours here,

I hope you’re continuing to support your families at home and you’re are all doing well.  Once again, I want to say how proud I am of how brilliant you’ve been in handling all of it – everyone at school was blown away by your resilience, maturity and attitude last week – well done!

It’s been a full week now in our current situation and been very strange not seeing you all, I thought today would be a good day to try and see who is logging on to the web page so we can keep in touch!  I will also give you a clear idea of all the work options you have available to you for the week and things to look out for.

Task 1:

To try and see how many of you are going online and using the website I would like you to leave a comment under this blog post.  Please just put your name and maybe tell me one thing you’ve done to keep your learning going this last week.  I am not 100% sure if you need an email account or not to post a comment (I know many of you have one anyway for the social media apps you are not meant to be on!!!)  If not, I have seen some of the younger children have posted using someone else’s in their home – remember, its just to help me know who is logging in.

Task 2:

Please read through the options below so you know the options available to you for working at home.

  • On the main page of the website under Home Learning – there is a scheme of work designed to help you and parents with lots of activities to choose from, that last 7 weeks.
  • On our class page I have set you various activities to be doing in terms of reading, writing and maths under updates/home learning.
  • If you haven’t started yet, please check out the year 5/6 writing competition on our class page, submissions need to be made by Wednesday – we must beat them!
  • If you do not have regular access to the internet, please use the packs that were prepared for you, which also contain a pupil mark scheme so you can check it yourself!
  • Many of you also have your revision packs that you bought from school.
  • MyMaths has also been set, two activities for the week, will set more for Easter break.
  • You also all now have logins for Rockstar times tables on our class page, please login and have a play – I’ve set activities for you to do.
  • Finally, this is a perfect opportunity to be reading regularly.  Please think about helping your adults at home by reading to your brothers and sisters as well.

Okay my lovely people, please try and put a comment under this blog so I know you’re logging in!

Missing you all,

Mr Spours

    • Will Spours says:

Amazing Allana, like I said on the phone, I think you’ve done brilliantly so far, more posts will come with a variety of things you can be working on. I really hope we all get back together soon too, until then keep doing what you’re doing!

      • Allana says:

        Hi Mr Spours
Allana’s mum here. Thank you for taking the time to look into the issue with TT rockstars, much appreciated. Her dad overheard our phone call, he’s in IT and figured out it was a browser issue, it doesn’t seem to like Chrome which is why it wouldn’t log in on the devices we tried so it’s all sorted now, she’s happily using it on her phone and I’ve got my phone back 🙂
        Thanks again for your help.

Hi Mr. Spours, I have logged on to My Maths and I’m logging on to Times Tables Rock Stars. I’ve done a few test papers that we were given. Also, I’ve been doing writing lessons and other things that were on the home learning section. I WANNA PLAY FOOTBALL!

  • Adrian says:

My Times Tables Rock Stars isn’t working, Mr. Spours. I kinda forgot how to do it. I think I wrote down something wrong on the paper when u told me my log in.

    • Will Spours says:

Hi Adrian, your details are username – adrm password – vbr.
Let me know if you’re able to get in.

      • adrian says:

I wasn’t able to log in Mr. Spours. Maybe something is wrong with the details.

      • adrian says:

Until we get it sorted, I will still be doing all the regular home work things.

        • Adrien Schellingerhoud says:

          Hi Adrian,

I just had a go and was able to log on using those details. Have another go and let us know! – Miss. S

        • Mr Spours says:

          Any luck now Adrian?

          • Adrian says:

Hello Mr Spours, I tried logging onto Times Tables Rock Stars and it worked. I later realised that for the school, I had to type in ‘West Green Primary School, London’ and not ‘West Green Primary School’ without the ‘London’ in it. It’s working now. Thank you, Miss S and Mr Spours! I hope you guys are doing well! 😀

          • Adrien Schellingerhoud says:

Great I’m glad that you got it working! Hope you and your family are well and that you aren’t missing school too much! – Miss. S

          • Will Spours says:

That’s great that you managed to get in.

          • Adrian says:

By the way, the mark scheme isn’t matching with the test papers, I dont really know why. For Example, my mum would look at the mark scheme for test paper 1 reasoning set A, and the questions weren’t matching the test paper. So we have to mark it ourselves.

          • Will Spours says:

Morning Adrian, yeah unfortunately I believe one of the tests doesn’t have a matching mark scheme, but I the other maths ones should. Apologies about that.

  • Adrian says:

It’s fine. By the way, I hope you guys are doing well with this pandemic going on. I’m kinda bored but me and my family are fine.
