English and Phonics Home Learning

Hello Year 1,

Below is a list of tasks to help you with English and Phonics home learning.

  • Draw a picture of your favourite character from a book of your choice.  What is the character’s name and how would you describe the character? Can you guess who my favourite character is?  Which book do you think the character is from?
  • Continue to practice the sounds on your sheet.  Use the website below to help you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7hRbrpq5Bo
  • Read the words for each sound. Can you spot the sound in the word?
  • Draw 2 character’s from your book.  Write what they might say to each other in the speech bubble.
  • Superheroes sheet – Can you put capital letters and full stops in the correct places?  For question 2, use the words to write a sentence using a capital letter and full stop.
  • Pirates sheet  – Use the pictures and words at the top of the sheet to help you write a sentence.  Remember to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
  • Write a postcard to somebody you care about.  Tell them what you have been doing and how you are feeling.  Ask them a question.
  • What can you see under the sea?  Write some sentences using the picture to help you.  Remember to use capital letters, full stops and finger spaces.
  • Practice writing the numbers in words.  Write them in  chalk outside or using colourful paint and crayons on paper.  Use water and a paintbrush to ‘paint’ the words outside.

Remember to e-mail me or Miss McQuillan a picture of your work.  Have a great week.

Lots of love,

Krishna x
