# A message from Patrick- 12th May 2020

Hi guys,

I hope you are all alright. I just want to go over some key reminders with you:

• Make sure you email us your entries to the third competition! Email the class email or admin@westgreen.haringey.sch.uk
• Check out the maths challenge posted yesterday. I did it yesterday and it isn’t easy but it is very satisfying when you finally get it!
• Get you accelerated reading done- I’ll be checking and posting on here when people get particularly good scores. Make sure you have a final scan over you book before attempting it though!

If you have any questions then please comment below but the main thing is that you get in your stories today.

How many triangles are there?

Also, find out the largest shark in the world and tell me three facts about it.

Speak soon,

Patrick

• Yi Sheng says:

Is it 14?
1. Less than 10% of them can live up to 150 years.
2.They move at 3 miles per hour.
3. They can process more than 6,000 litres of water an hour through their gills.

• Patrick Creane says:

Wow- thanks for the facts. I suppose it makes sense that the whale shark would be the largest! Though they are very slow aren’t they.

The answer is not 14 unfortunately. Have another look and I’ll post the answer tomorrow.

• Yi Sheng says:

Is it 16?

• Patrick Creane says:

It isn’t- keep going

• Yi Sheng says:

Is it 18?

• Patrick Creane says:

Good job Yi Sheng! It sure is.

• weda says:

is they 5

• Patrick Creane says:

There aren’t 5 Weda. Have another look and you should see quite a few more.

• Sophia says:

I was splitting the weird shapes into halves or thirds and adding those new triangles I made.Is it 16?

• Sophia says:

Oh,sorry.I just realised I was wrong.

• Patrick Creane says:

You were very close and the fact that you noticed your mistake shows you were really thinking about it! I’ll post the explanatory diagram tomorrow.

• Sophia says:

Is it 17?

• Sophia says:

Wit a minute.I had to split one more unusually shaped shape into three. So if it’s not 17 or 16,it must be 18!I get it now!

• Patrick Creane says:

Good job- I’m not quite sure I get your reasoning but you have the right answer! Like I said elsewhere, I shall post the answer diagram tomorrow.

• Davmie says:

Awww came late

• Sophia says:

Well,at least you managed to find out the answer. That is for sure.
